These are LIVE insects that are overwintering in a phase known as diapause. It essentially means they are sleeping and undergoing metamorphosis. They should be kept in a cool small tupperware in the fridge with paper towles until spring. When you see the leaves starting to bud on the trees you may take you cocoon out of the fridge and place in a suitable container for the insect to emerge. Typically a clear bin or tank works fine with mesh over the top. Be sure to include several climbing sticks so your Luna Moth has a chance to climb up and unfurl its wings! DO NOT expect these to hatch until Spring 2022.
